Insurance decisions affect your family’s financial security, so we hold our content to a high standard.

How we research

  • Primary sources first: provincial regulators (e.g. FSRA, AMF, BCFSA), federal sources (CRA, IRCC, FCAC), public auto insurers (ICBC, MPI, SGI, SAAQ), insurer policy documents and industry data (IBC, OLHI, GIO).
  • Every guide lists its sources at the end and links to them where possible.
  • Numbers are dated. Prices and statistics include the date and the source or example profile they apply to.

Who writes and reviews

  • Guides are written by our editorial team and, where indicated, reviewed by an advisor licensed in the relevant line of business. The reviewer’s name, licence details and review date appear at the top of the guide.
  • Reviewers check accuracy, not sales potential.

Keeping content current

  • We review high-traffic guides at least every six months and whenever rules change (for example Ontario’s July 2026 accident-benefits reform or Alberta’s 2027 Care-First auto model).
  • The “Updated” date changes only when we make a substantive update.

Corrections

Found an error? Email hello@instasure.ca with the page URL. We correct factual errors promptly and note significant corrections at the end of the guide.

Independence

Insurers cannot pay for coverage in our guides. Comparisons explain trade-offs honestly, including situations where you may not need a product at all. Our estimates are model-based ranges, never quotes, and are clearly labelled as such.

Use of AI

We may use software tools to help research and draft. A human editor is responsible for every published guide, and licensed reviewers verify technical insurance content before it is marked “reviewed”.
